This was a quick cocktail recipe I dreamed up during all the holiday craziness. Citrus is in full swing and there seems to always be a relationship between tequila and fresh fruit. The beauty of this margarita is that it is completely customizable depending on what fruit you have in the house.
We always have a few different tequilas on the bar, a blanco (which is super smooth) and a reposado (which can have hints of vanilla & spice). I am a huge fan of Fortaleza, Casamigos and any small batch tequila which I haven’t tried.
Tequila pairs extremely well with a variety of foods and of course any occasion. Margaritas can seem daunting to make but don’t be fooled, they are a snap to whip up and use very few ingredients. Long gone are the days of the too sweet (and sour) pre-made mixes. Using a little agave syrup, your favorite fresh fruit and some sparkling water, you have your next favorite cocktail!Print
Muddled Tangerine Margarita
- Yield: 1 cocktail
3 ounces of your favorite tequila (I use Casamigos Reposado)
4 ounces sparkling water
3 maraschino cherries with syrup
Select a cool cocktail glass for your margarita and add some ice. Muddle or smash the peeled tangerines with a muddler in a small bowl. Add the juice to your glass (I keep some of the muddled tangerines in the margarita and discard the rest). Pour tequila into the glass, add the sparkling water along with the cherries and their syrup (and give it a nice swirl). Enjoy!
